The Theatre Royal in Plymouth is the UK’s largest regional producing theatre, and it’s home to two auditoriums – The Drum Theatre and the Theatre Royal. Close to the city centre, this theatre is a nice one to visit if you’re staying in Plymouth as it’s easy to reach. The theatre is the place to see the biggest productions of the moment, from touring musicals of the west-end to the latest Shakespeare adaptations.

There’s good news for any young couples enjoying a retreat for two in Plymouth, if you’re under 26 you can book unsold tickets on a Friday for just £5. The Friday Fiver Standby discount means you can book a performance on the same day subject to availability. If you visit Theatre Royal have a look at the Mezz Gallery on the first floor. There’s always an exhibition showing and the public are welcome to visit from 10.30am.
