This one’s for those of you with the taste for seafood, The Plymouth Seafood Festival takes place on 24th and 25th September and celebrates the city’s fresh fish and great reputation for sustainable fishing – and it’s all in aid of the Fishermans’ Mission.
Sponsored by Plymouth Gin, the event’s going to centre around the historic Barbican area and Sutton harbour, and the programme’s packed with special appearances from celebrity chefs, cookery demonstrations (for those of us slightly less skilled in the art of preparing fish seafood) and live entertainment to make the whole weekend a family affair.
There’s a continental feel to the Barbican area, with visitors sitting back and dining al fresco at the cafes and restaurants, and the cobbled streets make it feel a world away from the city centre even though it’s only a short walk away.
Plymouth’s proud to be the world’s first city to win a Fish2Fork Blue City status in recognition of its dedication to sourcing sustainable fish wherever possible, and if you’ve never sampled its fresh catch of the day then you’re in luck - you’ll have plenty of opportunity to indulge in samples.
24th and 25th September 2016.
