Occombe Farm is something of a local legend for its food, so it’s probably a good bet for a culinary workshop too. Occombe Farm Cookery School offers down to earth guidance in the art impressing in the kitchen – from making the perfect sausage, baking cakes that will have your friends pleading for the recipe - and all with no fuss.
The workshops are run by the Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust, and not only will you head off at the end of it loaded with tips and recipes, but you’ll also have a few tasters to enjoy too. The workshops demonstrate just why south Devon’s produce makes the finest ingredients for any meal, and they use a hands-on approach to get the groups cooking.
Meats used in the workshops are reared right on Occombe Farm itself, so when we say all ingredients are fresh...in fact, the herbsand fruit are harvested right in the farm’s garden too. The Sea to Plate day includes a day out fishing followed by a seafood lunch prepared by none other than celebrity chef Simon Hulstone of Elephant Restaurant notoriety.
There’s onsite parking at Occombe Farm, and it’s easily found in Paignton. Other workshops include break making and dinner party cookery, so there’s something for every type of chef.
