We’re letting you in on a little secret with Hannah’s Bistro, as it’s one of those places that once discovered will keep drawing you back. Seale-Hayne is a beautiful old mansion set at the heart of rolling grounds in Newton Abbot near Torquay, and it’s used as a training and learning centre for people of all abilities.
The bistro’s the perfect spot for a Sunday roast as it’s set within the elegant Edwardian quadrangle, so the dining space is beautiful. Think wooden panels and a fireplace that would do Downton proud and you’ve got the idea…and better still the food’s delicious.
The traditional room’s been cosily furnished with a choice of tables for dining and comfy sofas where you can just curl up and read a paper for a while, and it’s a popular spot for a family lunch or to meet friends. If you visit during summer you’ll be able to dine outside on the terrace, or really embrace the atmosphere and take one of the picnic blankets out to the lawn to dine in style.
Don’t forget to take some time to look around after your visit to the bistro, as you’ll find craft shops and art displays in the building that welcome visitors just having a nose around.
