Description

Woodbine House is a traditional two bedroom house which lies a short way up Wood Lane in Kingswear and overlooks the River Dart from almost every room.  A full width balcony which enjoys the afternoon and evening sun is accessed by French doors from both the living and dining areas, and provides breathtaking panoramic views.  Stylishly furnished, it has been awarded the prestigious ‘four star platinum’ award by Visit England. Situated in a peaceful setting the house is just a short walk from the ferries across the river to lively Dartmouth, and the marina car park where a parking space is provided.

From the delightful setting of Kingswear alongside the River Dart, guests are perfectly located to explore and discover the natural delights of this area. Take a ride on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, winding along the banks of the river and then along the Paignton coastline. Relax on board a boat trip up to Dartmouth, taking in the spectacular rural views and array of wildlife en route. For those of a more active nature join the South West Coastal Path as it undulates and winds its way to Brixham, challenging but ultimately rewarding with unrivalled coastal views. Along the way stop off at Coleton Fishacre, owned by the National Trust and the former residence of the D’Oyly Carte family and home to a 30 acre garden.

Across the river from Kingswear is the historic naval town of Dartmouth. Easily accessible by the regular foot or car ferry and a great reason to stroll through the narrow lanes and discover the array of galleries showcasing local art. The Britannia Naval College can also be visited on certain days along with the remains of Dartmouth Castle, at the mouth of the River Dart.

Wonderful holiday, wonderful house

We loved the house, the views are amazing. The house had everything we needed and more. We stayed in the house for a week with our almost 4 and almost 2 year old. The kids were fine with the stairs as they were not that steep and loved the upstairs living and dining room. The kids loved the steam train being so close and every time the whistle went (not loud enough to bother you, but if you are listening for it, you can hear it) they would run to the windows to watch the train pass below. We all loved going over to Dartmouth on the ferry for an early dinner and then coming home, putting the kids to bed, so we could enjoy the evening sun on the balcony and watching the boats sailing around the harbour. I also recommend a ride on the steam train, Dartmouth Castle, Broadsands Beach for building sand castles and Paignton's sea front park- we couldn't get the kids to leave.

Lovely three storey house with amazing view.

Although the house is up a steep hill it is well worth the short climb! It is a three storey house with the lounge area at the top which has a full balcony, patio doors and an amazing view. The facilities were great and the house is very clean and nicely designed with a large bathroom. The kitchen was well equipped for self catering. We only had a short break but you could easily fill a full holiday in the area as there is plenty to do both indoors and outdoors. We would definitely like to go back and stay at Woodbine House again.

Woodbine House

Superb accommodation - furnished and equipped to a high standard. But the icing on the cake was the view. The balcony had wonderful uninterrupted views of Dartmouth and the Dart estuary. We have stayed many times in Dartmouth/Kingswear, but we have never had such a fabulous view. The parking arrangement at the Dart Marina worked very well.

Woodbine House

We had a wonderful time at woodbine house during a lucky week of glorious British weather. However if we hadn't been so lucky the house would have been wonderful because of the amazing views from the sitting and dining areas. The layout is very clever and the balcony/terrace is perfect for sundowners of an evening, and there is always plenty of river activity to take in. We explored the coastal paths and took the steam train up to Greenway.Agatha Christies house, which is charming. We also did a cookery course whilst there. We were there with our daughter and fiance and as we are all foodies can thoroughly recommend the Seahorse for a special meal.not cheap but worth every penny. We would love to come back to the area to explore and would definitely try to book Woodbine House again!

Woodbine House

We stayed at Woodbine House for a 3 night stay. It seemed a little expensive initially but when we arrived it was obvious why. The views from the lounge and dining area are stunning. We were fortunate to have glorious weather and the sun shining over the river and Dartmouth (and the lights at night) made the holiday. I would certainly book again.

Woodbine House

We have stayed here several times over the years. We always use Blue Chip Holidays, but when we decided to spend Christmas away from home then it had to be Woodbine House. Thank you for the Christmas tree, mulled wine and welcome pack - lovely extra touches.

Woodbine House

We spent a week here - it was absolutely brilliant!! The property was spotlessly clean, well appointed, with modern furniture, a lovely big bathroom and the best view you'll ever have from a holiday balcony! We loved it - and so will you!

Woodbine House

It's not very often that a holiday home lives up to its description but Woodbine House does - it is a 'home from home' but with the most beautiful view. So thank you Woodbine House and Blue Chip Holidays.

A great fortnight in spite of the bitter weather. The property is fabulous with really great views. It is a tribute to all concerned - well maintained and provisioned and spotlessly clean. Thoroughly recommended.

Woodbine House

Very comfortable property with amazing views from every window. Could have spent our entire holiday on the wonderful balcony, unfortunately the frequent chilling wind prevented us from doing so. We love Dartmouth and the surrounding area and enjoyed the proximity. We had a wonderful holiday here but be warned of the extremely steep access.

Woodbine House

Had an amazing stay at Woodbine House. Very impressed with the quality of the cottage (a luxurious treat) and the fantastic views on the balcony across the river to Dartmouth (a visible treat!). Would definitely stay there again and really enjoyed all the facilities and adventures available both on land and sea. The welcome pack was very welcome! and would have no hesitations in dealing with Blue Chip vacations again.
