Ivybridge to Longtimber Woods

Ivybridge to Longtimber Woods

Things To Do

The route between Ivybridge and Longtimber Woods is one of the greatest walks for nature lovers of all ages keen to explore the gorgeous scenery of the South Hams in the best possible way – by foot!

Starting from the picturesque Ivybridge, the path will lead you out of town and right into the romantic rolling countryside, soon exposing you to the most stunning views of the River Erme winding through gorges and valleys on its way to the sea. Following the route and passing underneath two viaducts, you’ll finally enter the tranquil Longtimber Woods. Not too far into the woodland, a peaceful picnic area invites you to take a rest and enjoy the calmness around you.

On your way back to complete this circular walk, watch out for footpath signpost along the road that lead to and across Henlake Down. On brighter days in particular, we highly recommend you  take this short detour as it treats you to glorious sights across Ivybridge and Ermington and - with a bit of luck - all the way over to the ocean – the perfect round-off to a memorable day out.
