With two AA rosettes to its name and a place in the Michelin Guide, The Holt is a relaxed pub and restaurant that showcases Devon’s produce in style. Guests can either relax downstairs in the bar and enjoy the selection of Otter beers or dine upstairs in the restaurant and sample the award-winning food. The menus include carefully designed modern British dishes, and the specials board tends to offer a selection of smoked foods.
The pub’s owned by a pair of brothers who decided to make their shared passion for good food into a friendly pub and restaurant, and they research, plan and create every dish and its ingredients in their spare time.
Speaking of spare time, the owners also run cookery classes in their open kitchen – so if you feel inspired after tasting their homemade bread or the smoked dishes then you can sign up to learn how to do it yourself back at home. Each cookery course lasts for a day, so make sure you don’t miss the chance to learn how to smoke, cure and bake at home. We’d recommend booking a table in advance as the restaurant’s often busy.
