Thorndon Cross to Venn Gate

Thorndon Cross to Venn Gate

Things To Do

For a Holsworthy walk that’s perfect for exploring the famous Ruby Country, the bridleway between Thorndon Cross and Venn Gate welcomes walkers, cyclists and horse riders, and much of it is smooth enough for pushchairs too.

To start the walk at Thorndon on the A3079, pick up the bridleway and head north. One of the best advantages of this Ruby Country walk is the unbeatable views in each direction, you’ll see Dartmoor behind you, Exmoor to the east and Bodmin Moor to your west!

Animal lovers will be treated to possible sightings of rabbits, ponies, deer, cattle and even buzzards along the bridleway, so please make sure dogs are kept under control along the way. If you’re feeling daring, take one of the paths that branch off from the main bridleway ans many of these lead you on a circular, longer route.
