The Prehistoric Chains

The Prehistoric Chains

Things To Do

The Prehistoric Chains is a 6 mile Exmoor walk starting from Goat Hill that’s a perfect way to explore the National Park’s historic sites. The walk from Goat Hill to Challacombe starts at Packhore Bridge which dates back to 1843, and passes the Pinkery Pond reservoir and Moles Chamber on the ancient Harepath.

Moles Chamber earned its name when it took the life of Reverend Moles and his horse in the 18 Century and is another example of Exmoor’s living history. A detour can also be taken to Longstone when you reach the top of the barrow.
