Well, Gara Rock is a collection of cottages perfect for those who want to escape from it all, and its setting’s simply beautiful. Every cottage has been carefully designed to showcase the sweeping sea views that stop their guests in their tracks in one direction, and views across the rugged landscape in the other.
South-facing balconies make the perfect places to just sit back and watch the waves dance, and the resort’s home to swimming pools, a sunbathing terrace and an award-winning café to make every stay an experience.
Plunge into holiday mode with the exclusive indoor swimming pool which is kept to a constant 28 Degrees Celsius, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi spa onsite at Gara Rock. Whether you get into the habit of waking up with a quiet early morning dip in the indoor pool or you wind down in the sauna after one of the nearby walks, the pools are just another way that Gara Rock makes it easy to unwind and spend some time just being. The steam room and sauna is open 12pm to 6pm daily with the indoor swimming pool being available 8am to 8pm.
On hot sunny days, make the most of the outdoor pool and its stunning clifftop views over the beach far below. Swimming feels all the more luxurious when you do it with views out to sea, and the pool makes just the setting to enjoy some time in the water with your clan. The outdoor swimming pool is seasonal and will open from the end of May until the end of September, 8am to 8pm.
What’s a day in one of Devon’s most spectacular corners without a plate of something hearty to tuck into? The Gara Rock restaurant is home to a curving glass wall, so even while you dine you won’t have to take your eyes from the sea views, and it serves up award-winning meals created with local produce.
The restaurant’s proud to serve only the region’s finest produce, and it’s all freshly prepared by the team of chefs. The menu offers everything from local crab caught in Salcombe, to the sustainable catch of the day with fries. There’s even a licensed bar for those of you who are intent on sampling Cornish lager, and trust us, it tastes all the better with views out to the Atlantic.

For walkers, Gara Rock’s setting on a Devon headland means one thing – the South West Coast Path. The path runs just moments from the resort, so if you’re keen to pull on your walking boots and take in some of the scenery with a walk then it’s as easy as choosing a direction and setting off.
The village of East Portlemouth is just a mile away, and it's home to three sandy beaches and more quietly bobbing boats then you can capture on camera. Every inch the idyllic Devon village, it's a friendly stop off for walkers and just the place to experience true West Country living.
They’ve thought of everything at Gara Rock, and there’s a sheltered sunbathing terrace for those afternoons when you’re content just to lie back with a book and enjoy the setting.
The terrace has been carefully designed to showcase hang glider views of the coast, so it’s another spot that’s perfect for some time away from it all. There’s plenty of space to just pick a spot and close your eyes, and with the sea breeze the only interruption you’ll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of home.
