Nobody discovers Dawlish Warren Beach and just visits the once, it’s one of those resorts that lures its fans back year after year, and TripAdvisor is full of reviews by parents happy to take their own children to it after years of holidays nearby.
The sandy beach is backed by fluffy dunes and the Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve and it stretches for miles in either direction. Dawlish Warren Beach is a Blue Flag Beach, an official sign of clean sands and safe waters – meaning it’s ideal for family beach holidays in Dawlish. With lifeguards keeping a close watch on the beach during the summer, families can enjoy a day in the sun at Dawlish Warren Beach with peace of mind.
The beach is also backed by the Riviera Line - one of Britain’s most scenic stretches of railway – and if you walk along the sea wall chances are you’ll be passed by a train emerging from the cliff tunnel. You can walk all the way along the Exe Estuary in one direction or to Dawlish town in the other and this walk is part of the South West Coast Path.
There are free events for all ages held on the beach during summer, including firework displays and children’s entertainment. Dogs are welcome as far as groyne 9 throughout the year.
