One of the things we love most about the Dart is the riverside pubs that line it...and The Maltsters Arms is one of our favourites. Tucked away in the countryside not far from Totnes and Dartmouth you’ll find this 18th century inn perched right beside the water, and it’s the kind of place where you’ll lose track of time and just enjoy great food in a stunning setting.
The restaurant offers traditional meals and pub snacks (we’d recommend the River Exe moules) and with a wide range of local ales to sample this is the perfect pub for some time out and a meal to remember. Dogs are welcome, and if you visit during the summer you can sit outside on the quayside and enjoy the holiday atmosphere. Anything goes at the outside Croc Bar, and it’s common for there to be a barbeque sizzling in the background while children practice their crabbing and the adults glide the rived in kayaks.
If you time your visit during the winter months you can sit inside in front of a roaring fire, and they’ll even lend you a board game to play just so you feel as cosy as possible. Found in the historic hamlet of Tuckenhay, the inn has all the character you’d expect from one of its age and its views are incredible.
