Dartmouth has established itself as the South West’s foodie capital in the last few years, and it should be high on the list of any visiting foodies exploring Devon. With an annual food festival that attracts celebrity chefs every October, Dartmouth has become almost as synonymous with food and produce as it is with sailing.
Dartmouth Farmers Market is held on the second Saturday of every month from 9am to 1pm and it’s one of those where you’ll find anything and everything. The Old Market just a short walk from the quay and it’s always packed with the very best of the seasonal produce from the local area. If you’re staying in a self-catering holiday cottage all that tempting fodder is a great excuse to stock up the cupboards and sample the area’s wares during your holiday.
When was the last time you sat down to eat fish so fresh it was caught the day before? Or you made breakfast for you and your partner using eggs almost direct from a local farm? Thanks to the regular farmers market it’s all part of the Dartmouth experience. The market also offers all kinds of culinary herbs, preserves, fresh meat and poultry and speciality foods.
