Gidleigh Park is the South West’s most prestigious restaurant, and it’s got awards and accolades aplenty. Named the Best Restaurant in the South West by the Sunday Times Food List, Gidleigh Park was also voted as having the Best Wine List and came second for Best Service. So that’s the Sunday Times wowed by the food, wine and service...what more can we say?
Michael Caines MBE and his team have impressed their diners for 13 years, and with set and taster menus available for lunch and dinner sittings the restaurant is one of those food lovers should visit at least once. Gidleigh Park is the home of fine dining in Devon, and you can’t get much fresher than herbs and veg grown just metres from the kitchen – yes that’s right, much of the produce used in the dishes is grown in the restaurant’s very own Kitchen Garden. As the seasons change so do the menus, so diners can enjoy the best flavours of the moment at any time of year.
The wine cellar is almost as impressive as the restaurant itself, and those who can’t resist a peek at the 1100 bins it stores can ask for a personal visit. 10,000 bottles are stored in the cellar, so there’s always a huge selection of wines waiting to complement the menu.
Gidleigh Park operates a dress code, so it’s shirts with collars for the gentlemen and they ask that diners don’t wear denim or trainers. Children are welcome but they must be over 8. Tucked in peaceful countryside, Gidleigh Park offers an experience its visitors never forget – from the location, to the food and that special service that helps diners to relax, and more than 8000 voters would recommend it to visitors.
