You’ll find Buckfastleigh Farmers Market perched on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, and if you’re already dreaming of homemade preserves, freshly backed loaves and organic ingredients by the score you’re not far off. This is one of the friendliest markets in Devon so leave time to pass the time of day with the locals and stall holders while you’re browsing.
The range of produce to choose from is huge, so whether you stock up for the holiday at the beginning of your stay or just pick up a few novelties you’ll find plenty to choose from. In fact, we bet you leave with at least one item that wasn’t on your list.
The market is held every Thursday from 9am to 1pm and it’s one of the nicest ways to experience life in Devon during your holiday. Stalls include free-range, home-reared beef, hearty meat pies, poultry and game, local cheese, fresh local fish and smoked fish, venison and much more.
If you like the idea of local produce but wasn’t planning on cooking you’ll even find home produced ready meals. There are fair trade products available and the market is a great find for anyone with a bit of a penchant for organic produce.
