Description

A beautiful period barn conversion converted to be the perfect balance of traditional features with a modern twist.  The Smithy has retained many original features including original beamed, vaulted ceilings with galleried features. With high quality furnishings and everything you could need The Smithy is a luxurious home from home.

The Park Mill Farm cottages are situated in a magical riverside setting, less than a mile from Chulmleigh centre, with 20 acres of lush fields, woods and parkland where you are free to roam along with the abundant wildlife. From the viewing area on top of the hill with bench, to the river and lakeside areas, there is plenty to explore.

Chulmleigh is a Saxon hilltop village made up of thatched cottages, traditional pubs and a small collection of independent shops. There is a kids’ play park and dining options consist of three pubs in the town, a cosmopolitan restaurant and an Indian restaurant/takeaway.

Chulmleigh town centre is now a conservation area and the rich grassland found here is home to the largest population of otters in any natural area in England. The area provides access to an abundance of leisure activities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf and horse riding along with a number of historic houses and gardens in the vicinity.

Guests can enjoy the best of coast and country with Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby, as well as the North Devon coast in one direction and the cathedral city of Exeter in the other, all within an hour’s drive.

Just a short drive away from Park Mill Farm Cottages, you can experience the range of luxurious facilities on offer at Highbullen Golf and Country Club including tennis courts, a pool, fitness suite, and a range of spa treatments if you fancy being pampered.

Fishing at Park Mill Farm

"This is an accommodating little river in a lovely Devon valley where time really does seem to stand still."Mike Weaver, Trout And Salmon magazine, Feb. 2009.

There are two rivers (The Little Dart and Huntacott)  meandering through the grounds  and a private fishing lake where guests can enjoy free fly and coarse fishing and catch Carp,  Rudd, Chubb, Roach, Brown Trout and Tench. There is also complimentary fishing on both rivers where Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon can be caught together with Coarse fish.

Great holiday cottage booked via Bluechip holidays.

We've just spent 5 nights in the Smithy, Park Mill Farm in North Devon. A beautiful, comfortable barn conversion in the tranquil countryside. Plenty of walks in the adjoining grounds with lake and surrounding countryside. Will definitely go back there and also use Blue Chip again as their service with arranging it was excellent.

The Smithy, Park Mill Farm

Very peaceful location with lovely accomodation. Chulmleigh Red Lion food & hospitality very good. Lovely local villages & scenery. Central location for getting to see areas of Devon. Thank-you. Shame we didn't get to see the Gardens & Lake due to wetness, maybe next time - I understand its lovely. P.S Great scones & clotted cream on arrival - very nice touch.

THE SMITHY

Me and my partner had a fantastic week at the Smithy cottage in Chulmleigh, Devon, main reason we chose this place was for relaxation, and this definitely ticked all boxes for us, The cottage itself had everything that you could think of and tastefully done , and on those odd chilly nights we would light the Log Burning Stove, which made it so cosy, Cream cakes on arrival gave a lovely start. My partner likes to do Fly Fishing and he done that just on the river outside the cottage, he caught some Trout Fish and loved spending the time there just relaxing, there is a lake if you wish to do course fishing there, and the grounds are lovely , the owners were very friendly also,so thank you and we will certainly be back. Thankyou and see yous again Nisha and Bryan

The Smithy, Park Mill Farm

Thank you for a lovely stay - the cream tea was beautiful and the cottages warm and welcoming. Thank you so much for the wellies - we crossed so many rivers, I don't know what we'd have doen without them. We went for a lovely walk in Exmoor National Park near the coast, and saw beautiful and friendly wild horses, and Braunton and Croyde are lovely. We even went Go-Karting outside Barnstaple - our designated road trip driver being the only one that crashed! Thank you for everything! xxx

The Smithy, Park Mill Farm

We had a wonderful few days at The Smithy. The cottage is beautiful and well equipped. My children had a wonderful time running in the gardens and playing by the river. I know many have already said this, but this cottage really is ' a home from home'. Thank you for a wonderful break in North Devon, hopefully we will come back in the near future xxx

Fantastic Break

Thank you for the wonderful cream tea welcome, it was the perfect start to our fantastic break. Having spent many childhood holidays in Devon The Smithy was a great retreat whilst introducing my family to this part of the world. I particularly loved the log fire! We spent many nights playing Trivial Pursuit whilst listening to the Owls and the sounds of the rivers. So it's with a heavy heart that we head home tomorrow. We'll definitely be back!

Thank you for the welcome cream tea, it was lovely. The accommodation is very comfortable and the loan of wellies was appreciated as it rained a lot but didn't stop us from having a lovely week. No mobile was a bonus! Red Lion in the village was great. All in all a relaxing week. Thanks.

Thanks for a lovely stay, really charming and well furnished.Cream tea appreciated on arrival. Good to see a ground source heat pump in action! Enjoyed visits to Croyde Bay, The Big Sheep, Exeter and Castle Drogo. Would recommend a walk up to the village along the bridle path, easier to explore on foot than in the car.

Fantastic

We would like to thank Ray and Sue for giving us one week to enjoy this cottage. We were amazed when we saw what the cottage used to be like, it showed the amount of work Ray and Sue must have done to transform the place and we think their hard work has been admirable. As for the stay, the cream tea was a great welcome to the cottage and the cottage itself was mostly cosy and fantastic. We also had a lot to do in Devon. We had a fly fishing lesson in the lake nearby with the No. 1 fly fisherman in Britain. We would definitely consider coming back!

Superb

Superb well equipped cottage in lovely grounds. Cream tea was a wonderful treat to welcome us weary travellers. Had an amazing week eve the sun came out almost every day. The children loved going for walks, being out in nature and going in the Freezing Sea. We loved staying here and were really sad to go. We'll definitely make the effort to visit this part of Devon again.
