Description

Old Dairy is a beautiful period barn conversion that has been compassionately converted to provide a tasteful and unique holiday home. Old Dairy has retained many original features, has high quality bespoke furniture and a kitchen and bathroom that are in keeping with the style of the property.

Original beamed, vaulted ceilings with galleried features create a light, airy and spacious feeling whilst ‘wood burning’ stoves make it an appealing rural retreat for cosy winter breaks.

The Park Mill Farm cottages are situated in a magical riverside setting, less than a mile from Chulmleigh centre, with 20 acres of lush fields, woods and parkland where you are free to roam along with the abundant wildlife. From the viewing area on top of the hill with bench, to the river and lakeside areas, there is plenty to explore.

Chulmleigh is a Saxon hilltop village made up of thatched cottages, traditional pubs and a small collection of independent shops. There is a kids’ play park and dining options consist of three pubs in the town, a cosmopolitan restaurant and an Indian restaurant/takeaway.

Chulmleigh town centre is now a conservation area and the rich grassland found here is home to the largest population of otters in any natural area in England. The area provides access to an abundance of leisure activities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf and horse riding along with a number of historic houses and gardens in the vicinity.

Guests can enjoy the best of coast and country with Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby, as well as the North Devon coast in one direction and the cathedral city of Exeter in the other, all within an hour’s drive.

Just a short drive away from Park Mill Farm Cottages, you can experience the range of luxurious facilities on offer at Highbullen Golf and Country Club including tennis courts, a pool, fitness suite, and a range of spa treatments if you fancy being pampered.

Fishing at Park Mill Farm

"This is an accommodating little river in a lovely Devon valley where time really does seem to stand still."Mike Weaver, Trout And Salmon magazine, Feb. 2009.

There are two rivers (The Little Dart and Huntacott)  meandering through the grounds  and a private fishing lake where guests can enjoy free fly and coarse fishing and catch Carp,  Rudd, Chubb, Roach, Brown Trout and Tench. There is also complimentary fishing on both rivers where Brown Trout, Sea Trout and Salmon can be caught together with Coarse fish.

Wonderful cottage!

This place was just what we needed, lots of R & R! It was spotlessly clean, fabulous cottage. As soon as we walked in, it was a great discovery! Really welcoming, lovely bathroom, huge bed, it had a wood burner, which we didn't get to use, but the whole place was faultless! The lovely fresh scones and clotted cream which was left for us, was such a lovely touch, and they were yummy! So thank you. It's a mile drive to Chumleigh, its a narrow one track road! Had a wonderful pub, Red Lion, dud lovely food, and welcoming! A Spar grocery shop, a deli, newsagents, bakery and Butchers, so all your everyday needs are catered for, if you wasn't planning on going far! We wasn't, so it was handy for us. I didn't realise just how 'in the middle of nowhere' this place is! Nice and peaceful, but a drive out to anywhere, if you want to go further than Chumleigh. Unfortunately, I become poorly during our stay and had to cut short our stay. So hopefully will return again another time to experience the wonderful grounds and have a restful relaxing holiday next time!

Excellent stay

This was our fourth booking with Blue Chip Holidays and as always the whole booking process was very smooth and efficient. Our stay was at Park Mill Farm at Chulmleigh in the Old Dairy. This was our third stay at Park MIll Farm and as always it totally exceeded our expectations. The barn was immaculately clean and full of character with everything you needed for your stay. The beautiful fields and woodlands surrounding the farm are breathtaking with lots of lovely walks and some fabulous fishing in the lake. A perfect place to stay to escape the stresses of everyday life. This is the most peaceful and tranquil place we have ever stayed in and is perfect for total relaxation. The owners Ray and Sue are extremely helpful, so warm and friendly with nothing being too much trouble. Would highly recommend staying here.

Old Dairy, Park Mill Farm

One of the big reasons behind our decision to use Blue Chip and this accommodation was that there was the possibility to stay for four nights like we wanted as we found the majority of cottage self catering lets wanted a minimum of seven nights. The owners had provided excellent details on how to get there which we were emailed by Blue chip before arrival. We were greeted with a tasty cream tea left by the owners which was a really lovely touch. The accommodation was spotless and really beautiful and you could tell the owners had gone to a lot of effort to restore the barn with original features still abundant. There are a couple of pubs and a couple of restaurants available to choose from but only one of the pubs seemed to be open during the week - The Red Lion - but the food there was very tasty, especially the pizzas. It took around an hour to drive to the different towns on the coast but if walking is your thing the grounds are beautifully kept and there are plenty of places to. We really enjoyed our stay and found the best things about the accommodation were the peacefulness, the comfy beds and the surrounding beauty.

Peaceful and relaxing

Ideally situated between Dartmoor and Exmoor the property ticked all the boxes for us, peaceful, relaxing and very well appointed. The owners, who live nearby, were very friendly and helpful. The access roads are negotiable with care but traffic is almost only the residents so it was not an issue for us. One unexpected pleasure was a wonderful dark night sky full of stars, no light pollution.

We enjoyed a very happy week in the Old Dairy and would recommend this property for it's high quality fittings and very nice surroundings. Sue and Ray have done an excellent job in converting these barns to a very high standard in a delightful part of North Devon.

The old Dairy Cottage, Chulmleigh

My husband and I took a 5 night break at the cottage during Aug/Sept 2016. We arrived to a lovely clean and well equipped place which was very quiet and peaceful. We had a lovely time there really just chilling out and visiting a few local places. On arrival we had been left a cream tea and milk, a very nice gesture. The bed was very comfortable and big!!! We would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. As it rained some of the time and we hadn't taken suitable footwear, we didn't get a chance to see the grounds although there was a lake for fishing and lots of grounds to see. Maybe next time!!

A lovely relaxing cottage

Thank you so much for such a lovely stay in the Old Dairy. A lovely relaxing cottage. Perfect peace and a break from the stresses of 21 Century life. Beautiful grounds where we spent nearly all our time reading, picnicking, chatting and watching the wildlife, very idyllic.

Old Dairy, Park Mill Farm

We first found this wonderful accommodation last year and enjoyed ourselves so much we made a return visit this year. Everything was as we remembered, just perfect (apart from the rain this year). Hoping to return for a third visit as soon as we can. A little piece of heaven in Devon is the best way to describe The Old Dairy.

Short visit to meet up with old friends (Oct)

We stayed at this location to visit friends who live locally. The property is beautiful with good facilities. The owner seemed to have thought of everything, including Wellingtons a must in Devon! We were made to feel very welcome by the owners. There is a lovely walk through private woods and a lake for those who like fishing. Very relaxing. Make sure you pack a torch as there is no street lighting, coming back late it is very dark. Chulmleigh village is about one mile away and is very charming, the church is a must. Food at the Red Lion pub is good. Very steep hills makes walking to the village from the property only for the very fit. A very enjoyable stay and I would recommend this property for singles, couples and families alike the owner seemed to have thought of everything. Great Stay..
