Excellent accommodation with everything you could need within a short walk.

We stayed at the cottage with our two year old and found the accommodation to be great for our little family. The location is great for getting out and about on the road to Devons many attractions, but also great for staying local. When my husband took the car to go on to the moors fishing, my daughter and I we able to walk into town and visit the local independent shops an cafes. The pubs were welcoming, even with a toddler in tow. And the steam railway, complete with a butterfly and otter sanctuary are in walking distance. We caught the train to Totnes, I throughly recommend it, the staff clearly love what they do. As for the cottage, it is great for a romantic get away or fab for family holidays; great for cosy nights in or a comfortable bolt hold. The hosts are kind and thoughtful and clearly love the cottage.

Ultimate Relaxation at the Old Stables

From the ease of booking, to the correspondence from Bluechip this was going to be what was needed for a stress free holiday. The moment we found the cottage, even on a rainy day it brought some sunshine to the horizon! Wow what a find! At the end of a quiet mews, this cottage was a much needed haven of loveliness. Entering the property through the orangery with the quaint little table and chairs, I knew where I would be having my breakfast the following morning! Entering the lounge my husband's eyes lit up when he saw the huge log burner and like a child at Christmas he then feasted his eyes upon the TV! Like Christmas I wont spoil the surprise but it's all you need for entertainment with Sky+HD and Wifi that was received in each room. Unless you like the good old fashion entertainment and there's a mini grand piano and two guitars. The lounge has a lovely homely feel to it and I could imagine living there! The kitchen is well equipped under counter fridge, separate freezer and washer/dryer as well as many utensils. There was a lovely hamper of fresh corn bread, jams, butter and cheese which was very much appreciated, as well as milk in the fridge. The Chapel room downstairs is bright and airy with two singles that can be put together to make a king I believe. Upstairs you have the Master bedroom which is a good size with lots of storage for clothes. There is plenty of light however the blinds are blackout, if you did want to sleep in, but why would you? The bed was perfect and I slept the best I have for years. The bathroom was perfection! Although the bath takes a while to fill this does not take away from how amazing the hydrotherapy bath really is, the mood lights just added to the relaxing feel of it. The shower wand is just that and serves it's purpose. The towels were placed on each bed and were in the shaped into animals, they were so pretty and just added to the attention of detail that the property fulfills. There are many information sheets about the local area. We were pretty smitten with the house, the local people and the area and surrounding areas. I'm so glad that I found this property, it was my little bit of heaven in Devon.

The Old Stables, Buckfastleigh

Easy booking with 'Blue Chip'. Good information on website with photos. Location was great, with easy routes to get to all the places we wanted to visit. Also easy to walk to nearer attractions such as Buckfast Abbey and the South Devon railway with Butterfly and Otter centre. Also right on Dartmoor's doorstep and easy drive to Exeter and the coast. The Old Stables is an excellent holiday base. Great mews cottage accommodation with little patio garden and lovely orangery as you enter. Large lounge, modern kitchen and bathroom and lovely bedrooms. Large screen TV, wifi and welcome basket. We felt very at home for the week of our stay. Only small negative is the parking. Bit pot luck for a space on the street, but we were lucky every day. Would recommend.
