Shoalstone Pool is an outdoor seawater pool, and with plenty of space around it to just enjoy the sun it’s always a popular place to relax on a sunny day. You’ll find the pool just off the main road that leads from the harbour to Berry Head, and entry’s free.
There’s a little shingle beach nearby if you fancy spending some time by the sea before your dip and the café looks right across the bay, so Shoalstone’s a laidback place to enjoy time with the family in a beautiful setting. There are lifeguards on hand and first aid is available, and there are deckchairs for hire for those of you who are happier to sit back and enjoy the sunshine than take the plunge in the pool.
The local bus service (the number 17) stops nearby so don’t feel you have to hold back on the inflatables for the day if you’re leaving the car behind, and the summer season sees the pool’s toilets open every day so you can spend the whole day enjoying one of the country’s last remaining seawater pools. Please note there are steps from the car park to the swimming pool.
