Owed by celebrity chef Mitch Tonks and set within Brixham’s infamous fish market, Rockfish Seafood Restaurant is one of South Devon’s foodie favourites. There are few places where you can watch the catch of the day as it’s landed into the harbour and then enjoy it on your plate within an hour, and Rockfish is about as close as it’s possible to eat to the source of the fish in the UK.
Sit back on the terrace and watch the ships start to return from the sea from around 5pm each day, and whether you’re a seafood foodie or just keen to sample Brixham life it’s always exciting watching the fish as they come ashore. If you prefer to dine outside (we know sometimes it’s all about fish and chips sitting on the breakwater), you’ll find a takeaway downstairs, and the café area serves up fish breakfasts to the fishermen before they set off at dawn each day.
Rockfish is as much about experiencing real seafood as it is Mitch’s famous the culinary masterpieces, and there’s even a fish room right next door where the chefs prepare the freshly landed fish from the markets ready for serving in the Rockfish restaurants.
