Tavistock Goosey FayreProbably the oldest Devon event, Tavistock Goosey Fair has been a tradition since the 12 century and its many attractions and stalls continue to draw the crowds year after year. The Goosey Fair was originally known as Michelmas Fair, and is held on the second Wednesday in October each year. The event attracts traders from all over the country to entertain and sell their wares, and visitors are treated to live music, hot food, stalls offering local produce and plenty of rides and amusements. Although a very different fair than when it started, there is still an annual cattle and poultry auction.

Torbay RegattaThe south coast’s most popular regatta, the Torbay Regatta is not only a huge Devon event in the sailing calendar but is also a great spectacle for visitors to the area too. Organised by Torquay’s yacht and sailing clubs, the annual regatta sees all kinds of boats, yachts and dinghies head to the bay to take part in numerous races and events. Torbay’s sheltered bay provides ideal conditions for sailing and its coastline makes a great vantage point for watching the races from dry land! The Torquay Regatta is usually highlighted with a display from the extremely talented Red Arrows and a fantastic firework display.

Dartmouth Food FestivalThe Dartmouth Food Festival is a mouth-watering annual event in Devon, and is a must for the diary of any foodie! The festival celebrates Devon’s fine food and unique variety of local produce, with appearances and demonstrations from celebrity chefs, plenty of opportunity to sample and buy the region’s fantastic fodder and fun for the whole family! Enjoy the historic town of Dartmouth and its scenic location on the River Dart while you experience Devon’s impressive food scene and mingle with some of the industry’s most celebrated faces. North Devon & Exmoor Walking FestivalThe North Devon and Exmoor Walking Festival celebrates its 10th year in 2010, and is a fantastic way to discover Exmoor and its beautiful surroundings. The Autumn Walking Festival includes a range of scenic walks, and those taking part are free to select the best walk for them. Choose the areas you wish to see, the best level of difficulty for you and whether it is dog-friendly before organising your walk through North Devon. Book early and avoid missing out on a guided walk through some of the country’s finest natural countryside.

Dunster by CandlelightOne of the most beautiful events in Devon is Dunster by Candlelight, an annual event in the picturesque medieval village of Dunster on Exmoor. The first Friday and Saturday of each December see this sleepy town transformed into a glimpse of the past as candles are lit throughout the village and a lantern procession illuminates the cobbled streets. The lantern procession is followed by a procession by local children and their parents in costume as they accompany the stiltwalkers who light the streets lamps! Dunster by Candlelight is one of the most atmospheric and unique events in Devon, and is erfect for the festive season!
