The Dartmouth Regatta is always a grand old affair, and it’s the place to see air displays, river processions and all kinds of events on land. This historic gem of a fishing port comes to life for the regatta, with houses brightly decorated in its honour and its cobbled streets packed with excited visitors.
The regatta's set to take place from 27th - 29th August, and previous programmes have included displays from the Red Arrows, an illuminated river procession, a display by the Royal Navy’s anti-submarine helicopter and The Blades aerobatic display team. The regatta runs alongside Sailing Week, so expect to see the water dotted with yachts and even more boats than usual. Other regular events include a regatta fete, tennis and golf tournaments, water polo, junior crab fishing, live music in the town’s bandstand, a fancy dress competition for the little ones and a funfair.
The air displays are always a favourite, and the hum of the engines is deafening as the noise echoes around the surrounding hills – heightening the atmosphere and vibrating through the ground. If you can’t resist a little pomp and ceremony with flag in hand make sure you get tickets for the Last Night of the Proms concert, as it’s always a highlight of the week. The regatta is also renowned for its firework displays, and it opens with the Grand Ball, a dinner and dance event to get you in the regatta mood.
We're proud to sponsor Dartmouth Royal Regatta Sailing Week.
27th, 28th and 29th August.
