Lower Mill Estate
Set in the peace and quiet of the beautiful Cotswolds, life on The Lower Mill Estate is all about relaxation, spending time together and a little bit of pampering. Award-winning designs and contemporary comforts make this exclusive collection of homes perfect for the work weary, the time starved-family and anyone who loves time out in a natural setting.
The Lower Mill Estate has been carefully created with a laidback lifestyle in mind, and you’ll find swimming pools, a gym (though you’ll be forgiven for skipping your routine while you’re on holiday of course…), a restaurant and even a spa right on your doorstep.
Why have one heated pool when you can have two? The estate’s spa is home to two welcoming heated swimming pools (one indoors and one outdoors), a rather impressive lily-filtered eco pool, a steam room, sauna and a gym, so whether you’re feeling energetic or you’re content to just immerse yourself in the pool, the choice is yours. Better still, our exclusive properties are set within a gated area on the estate and include use of a separate pool and gym.
If you’re staying with a group of those friends you just don’t catch up with enough, the pool areas make just the place to unwind and enjoy some time out together. Start your day with a visit to the steam room and sauna to feel rejuvenated and ready to explore, or enjoy a few moments just for you after a busy day.
Imagine this…you, a scented treatment room and that massage you’ve been promising yourself for months. The Pevonia spa at The Lower Mill Estate is just the place to leave the stresses of home behind and pamper your way back to your old self.
The beautifully blissful treatments to choose from include the ever-popular hot stone massage, facials, pedicures and manicures, and they’re all carried out using Natural skincare products by Pevonia Botanica. Make sure you book your treatments as far in advance as possible, as they book up fast.
The Ballihoo Restaurant
Newly opened and created especially for residents of The Lower Mill Estate, The Ballihoo Clubhouse & Restaurant serves up the region’s freshest tastes and flavours so you can enjoy the scrumptious taste of the Cotswolds.
Whether you call in for a hearty breakfast, an elegant lunch or a cosy dinner, the menu has something for everyone, and the eco-friendly design of the restaurant makes it a welcoming place to take your time over good food. If you fancy dining in your own home from home then there’s good news, there’s a takeaway service for those evenings when you don’t fancy cooking.
What’s country life without a local store stocked with provisions and the little things that make a big difference? Well, the estate’s friendly General Store means you’re never more than a short walk away from a tasty treat or a holiday essential, and it stocks everything from wood for the fire to a fine selection of locally sourced meats for those barbeque afternoons.
If you’re feeling extra organised you can contact the store before you arrive and pre-order everything you need, but it’s open throughout the holidays and on weekends.
Miss Mouse Trail
We couldn’t think of a nicer way to explore the nature reserve with the children, and the Miss Mouse Trail brings the whole walk to life for younger members of the family. If you buy Miss Mouse’s story, ‘Miss Mouse Builds a House’ in the General Store before you set off, you can follow in her paw prints as you explore the estate’s nature reserve.
Trust us, the possibilities for Miss Mouse are seemingly endless, and you’ll come across all kinds of characters as you make your way along the trail! Each character is inspired by one of the creatures that call the estate home, so the trail’s a lovely way to introduce visitors to the animals behind the estate’s natural setting.
For those of you who are happiest when you’re sitting beside a lake seeing what you can catch, there’s good news. Anglers with valid rod licenses are welcome to join the Lower Mill Estate Fishing Club, and that means plenty of opportunity to spend an hour or two enjoying the peace and quiet by the water.
We can't think of many spots that are quite as pretty to spend some time out, and the lake's always well-stocked so it's a popular spot with anglers keen to cast their rods during their stay.
They’ve thought of everything at Lower Mill Estate, and for those days when the water’s calling, you can hire a canoe and spend an hour or two drifting on one of the site’s lakes. If you think the estate looks gorgeous from the land then you’re in for a treat when you sit back in your canoe and admire it from the water…it looks spectacular.
Canoes and kayaks are available to hire right onsite, and you'll find the canoe launch beside the Somerford Lagoon, so you can enjoy an adventure on the water without even leaving the Lower Mill Estate.
