Chi An Treth, Widemouth Bay, Bude

Widemouth Bay is our favourite holiday destination in the UK and we've often stayed just up the road in a bungalow just opposite the entrance to the beach. When that was booked up already we found Chi An Treth and due to its great location on the beach we were happy to book it on this occasion. It is a nice modern place that's well equipped and comfortable. We found we'd got everything that we needed and the bedrooms and bathrooms were ideal. The kitchen and dining area were also great and so too the living room, although we felt the space in there could've been used better. Our only complaint was that there was often noise early in the morning. The place is next to the Black Rock cafe on the beach and there is a parrot called Rocky who is kept in a cage outside the cafe. He's very sociable but he seems to start with his loud squawking at around 6.30 am each morning. Two of the bedrooms back onto the cafe and so Rocky used to wake us up most mornings. There are a few apartments above the cafe and it seems one of them is used by people who have at least 2 big dogs. There is a "back yard" area at the back of the cafe with steps leading up to the apartments and it seems the dog's owners let the dogs out early in the morning but it seems that the dogs are keen to get back inside and so start barking very loudly early in the morning too outside the door of the apartment. The barking seems to be ignored for a while and so if Rocky doesn't wake you up the dogs will. When we're on holiday it's nice to re-charge the batteries and although we're not lazy people who don't really want to be woken at 6.30 am everyday. This didn't spoil the holiday, it was just rather annoying.
