Description

Laburnham is a totally private lodge with 60 mile uninterrupted sea views. This secluded one bedroom property sits on what’s known as “the front line” of Tregonhawke cliff, and as it’s set out on two levels there’s plenty of space to find a hideaway to sunbathe with a book or just relax.

With sweeping sea views that stretch as far as the eye can see, life at Laburnham is all about enjoying the outside space and taking in the location, and there’s plenty of comfortable seating and a selection of welcoming sun loungers scattered in strategic positions. Parasols are supplied for those times when the sun gets a little too much and there are always areas of shade to be found throughout the garden.

If the weather changes there’s a beautiful Jotul wood burner to snuggle up next to and read, and you’ll also find kindling, peat and kiln dried logs supplied. There’s also a flatscreen TV and DVD with a supply of films for those who would prefer a glass of wine and a tear jerker or a romance to watch and action movies for the guys.

Treat yourself while you’re away and take advantage of the additional services like a Shiatsu masseur that will come to the lodge just to pamper and relax you. Or, if you don’t feel like cooking, a chef can come to the lodge and cook for you (subject to availability and additional charges.)

There's easy access to the beach down a windy path with lots of steps and some fantastic views. Laburnham accepts well behaved dogs, and the six miles of beach are dog friendly, so owners can spend hours watching their pets explore all the charms of the seaside.

Our wonderful week at laburnum

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at laburnum. The location is spectacular although there is a bit of a hike from where the car is parked as well as a steep descent to the fabulous beach. The cliff side location of the chalet is amazing. The view is second to none. On a slight negative the drawers and cupboards were not that clean and need a bit tidying but that apart this place can't be faulted. We had great weather but I imagine even without that it would still be a great place to stay. We will definitely be returning.

Feel very honoured to be the first guests and hope we have treated the place with the respect it deserves.

Fabulous Chalet Location

We had a wonderful stay in this cosy well equipped chalet. The view is second to none and we are sure we had the best view on the cliff! The chalet is positioned about half way on the cliff so the journey down to the chalet and the beach isn't too bad for mobile persons. After a day out it is lovely to sit on the totally private veranda and watch the beautiful sunsets in peace and tranquillity. The manager Paul is very helpful; its good to know that there is someone to call if needed. We did not want to leave!

Amazing Views

Almost perched on the cliff face the chalet/cabin has the most amazing veiws. Not for the faint hearted as you need a wheel barrow to transport your things from the car parking space to the accomodation, and it is a steep hill down. It is a magical snug very private place. Inside everything was well thought out. A warm welcome with fresh flowers, fresh bread, cheese and grapes and to wash it down a bottle of red wine.

We had an amazing stay at Laburnam, Whitsand Bay.

We had an amazing stay at Laburnam, Whitsand Bay. It was pretty much perfect from beginning to end. Everything was so well organised and well thought out - a wheelbarrow to take our bags down the hill, logs chopped and ready for the fire, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, lots of tables and chairs to sit out on - really thoughtful. When we actually saw the chalet we were blown away - it was exactly like the pictures only more beautiful. And on top of that Paul had left a bottle of wine with cheese, bread and grapes - we opened a bottle of wine, sat out in the sunshine and made the most of it! Perfect. The chalet was incredibly comfortable - the beds were glorious and I had the luxury of watching telly in the ‘day bed in the lounge whilst looking out at the sea. The sea views were stunning and we thought the hurricane glass in the garden was perfect we were able to let the dogs out without worrying about them. Finally, we stayed over New Year and have every example of weather you could imagine and absolutely loved it! In the sunshine it’s glorious and the beach is fabulous for walking the dogs. There’s a lovely wood burner for the cold nights and we had a stormy day which was really exciting watching the waves crash on the beach below. We really hope to go back soon. Many thanks.

Beyond expectations

Our stay in Laburnham at Whitsand Bay was just incredible. The chalet, the views, the feeling of the place, it is just beautiful. Having travelled to some many far flung and beautiful places, I didn't expect to find the most magical one one, here, on our doorstep. We got such a lovely welcome as well with freshly baked bread, local cheese, fruit, flowers and a bottle of wine. Not because a particular occasion, just because this is what the owner of the chalet does, this is the kinda place it is. We can't wait to stay again, and I hope this well deserved review doesn't encourage too many people to book, just enough so there is still room for us. Because this place is a one in a million kind of place.

Holiday at "Laburnham"

This location is simply amazing. We were really lucky with the weather which, (as we all know when holidaying in England) makes a big difference. But this property is right on the clift top. Access is down a steep hill (400 yards walking) but if you want a location as good as this you need to understand that vehicle access is very hard to get. The owner is attentive and really welcoming. That personal touch goes a long way. The owner went as far as using his local influence in getting us a reservation at "The View" (nearby and very good) after we could not get a table due to it being fully booked. Our family is two adults (early 40's), 7 year old boy and dog. Dog (and son) LOVED the beach and property is pet friendly in the right way. In other words, it will accept a dog but you dont get that sinking feeling when you get there of smelly dog friendly accommodation. Its a great place, great owner and i would much rather be sitting there now than sitting in my office writting this review! Thanks

A little piece of heaven

We stayed at Laburnum for a week with our 4 year old son at the end of April, and we had a lovely holiday. The property is most charming, the location is absolutely stunning! We were lucky with the weather, so we saw the beautiful Whitsands Bay and Rame peninsula at its best on sunny days, but we also enjoyed watching the rain moving over the sea and listening to the waves and the wind. This holiday location may not suit everybody, there is a steep walk from the car parking spot to the chalet and then a steeper decline to the beach (tough on little legs on the way up, but Daddy's shoulders where strong enough). But the holiday had everything that we love, and just to list a few: - most comfortable little chalet with lovely windows to bring the sun in, and a wood burner for the chillier nights, nesspresso coffee one of the perks, wine, bread and cheese on arrival (thank you, Paul), and a bed for a dog! - most amazing views of the bay from the windows and the patio, with sun loungers and even surf boards! - a surf school at the beach, a little cafe, Cliff Top Cafe, at the top - miles of pure sand and rocks, with plenty of sea creatures (never seen that many anemones). A dog friendly beach all year around! - and such peace!
