Description

St Teresas is a beautiful cottage with a rich history. Situated on the Grade 1 listed Lanherne Convent estate, the property dates back to the late 1800s.

The cottage has been completely refurbished to a high standard, retaining its original character and adding the benefits of a well-equipped kitchen and two log burners. Externally the cottage offers two beautiful secluded gardens, bordered by a Grade 2 listed wall covered in wisteria, the perfect place to relax and dine al fresco.

The nearby convent was originally the manor house of the Arundell family, once the most wealthy and influential family in Cornwall, it was a gift to the Carmelite nuns in 1794. Today the convent is home to the St Joseph and St Anne Roman Catholic Church and the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Immaculate.

The estate is located in the picturesque village of St. Mawgan. The village centre is only a short walk away and boasts a well known pub with restaurant and lovely beer garden. There is also a village shop and tea room offering gorgeous freshly made snacks. There is even a picturesque Japanese garden and Bonzai tree nursery, well worth a visit.

St Teresas is only a 5 minute drive from two stunning beaches, Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay. Mawgan Porth is a family friendly beach complete with rock pools to explore. Whilst Watergate Bay boasts some of the best watersports in the region and is home to the Jamie Oliver inspired Fifteen restaurant.

There are many beautiful walks available in the surrounding area, a must visit would be the stunning Bedruthan Steps, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

An beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. Within easy walking distance of an excellent pub, café and other amenities and a leisurely walk to the beach. This has been our second stay and it really does feel like a home from home.

St Teresas Cottage

Lovingly restored cottage with beautiful gardens in quiet and very convenient location for Watergate Bay and North Coast beaches. Particularly good kitchen for those cooking. Suitable for a family with younger children - ours loved it. Both times.

Perfect holiday home

St Teresa's Cottage is absolutely delightful. The interior was spotlessly clean and the modern fittings harmonised perfectly with the heritage of the property. The way the property was restored, retaining the internal doors whilst adding modern features like underfloor heating added to the character of the cottage. We found the location to be ideal. We walked to the local pub, The Falcon and enjoyed and evening meal in a friendly pub. The airport was less than 2 minutes drive, but you couldn't hear the planes. The local beach was a 5 minute drive and is walkable if you feel energetic. My wife walked it! There's also a well stocked post office and store in the village. Newquay is 10-15 minutes drive and Padstow was about 20-25. A lovely holiday made all the more enjoyable staying in a fantastic setting.

St Teresas Cottage

Thank you so much for a lovely week in your lovely home. Was great to feel at home and with a beautiful setting. Pass on compliments to the gardener, what a lovely garden and beautifully maintained. Had a lovely week, Mawgan Port beach is great for the kids as is Newquay beach. Also enjoyed Newquay Zoo, Aquarium and Springfields. Nice village shop and owner. Thanks for all the care and attention made and well done on a great renovation. Happy to visit again. The Maclauchlans.

St Teresas Cottage

Everything about the cottage was perfect. Having two bathrooms was a real bonus. The kitchen / dining room had everything we needed and the rural yet village setting was ideal. St Mawgan is a lovely tranquil place with plenty to entertain our grandson.

St Teresas Cottage

The glorious weeks of warmth and sunshine, we only hope the next guests get to enjoy the weather we have had. The cottage has been an excellent base and well-equipped to make it our home for the fortnight. We have had the opportunity to spend time in the garden, eating most of our meals outside. The rest of the holiday seems to have been spent on the beach! Recommend Harlyn and Porth with no beaches if you want a change from Mawgan Porth. Other good days out have included horse riding from Trenance Stables (Newquay), Tamar Otter Centre, Newquay zoo, Eden Project and Lanhydrock and Boscastle.

St Teresas Cottage

It has been wonderful to be back at St Teresa's again! The weather has been lovely, which has meant we've been able to visit the local beaches, as well as spend a lot of time relaxing in the garden. The village is very friendly and peaceful, and we have really appreciated the rest after a busy and stressful few weeks! Thank you for a delightful stay!

St Teresas Cottage

Fantastic holiday in a beautiful cottage. Easily the most comprehensively 'stocked' cottage we've stayed in with everything you could ever need! Mixed weather for our week so would recommend Eden Project and Bodmin Leisure Centre for iffy days or surfing at Watergate Bay for the sunny ones! Don't miss out on the scones and 'Rogers' jam at the village shop!
