Summarised by one TripAdvisor reviewer as “beautiful, unspoilt and dog friendly”, Daymer Bay is just far enough off the beaten track to set it apart from the other beaches in Polzeath. Although the surf here pales in comparison to Rock and Polzeath beaches, this hidden gem of a beach is a great find for those with young children - and it’s sandy.
Daymer Bay is great for calmer water sports, such as swimming, canoeing and boating, and you can walk for what feels like miles when the tide goes out. The lack of surf means children can enjoy the water too and the sea isn’t too far out from the sand even at low tide. If you wander along the beach you’ll find plenty of rock pools just waiting to be explored by small hands, and the broad sandy beach is even sheltered.
While you’re here you can wander to St Enodoc’s Church, a 16th century building partially covered by sand dunes and already rescued from being covered by them once. There’s a car park close to the beach and it’s a quiet choice if you like to feel a bit more secluded while you soak up the sun. Dogs are welcome all year round
