Description

Situated at the western end of Whitsand Bay, the coastline that Portwrinkle forms part of is characterised by high cliffs, dramatic scenery and long stretches of sandy beaches just waiting to be discovered. Traditionally a fishing village, Portwrinkle itself comprises solely of a harbour from which two beaches are accessible, and its isolated location attracts visitors in search of tranquillity amidst beautiful natural surroundings.

Offering stunning sea views in a tranquil setting, Bayview is the ideal coastal retreat for visitors in search of escapism. Comfortably sleeping eight, the property features stylish interior furnishings along with a fully equipped modern kitchen forming part of the open plan living area. With four bedrooms on offer visitors will be spoilt for choice.

Externally, the decked patio area features a wooden barrell style hot tub and furniture, providing the ideal spot to relax and soak up the magnificent views or even indulge in a little al fresco dining. Dog owners need not worry about their best friend escaping as the garden is secure and enclosed.

The Whitsand Bay and Downderry Golf Club is within a five minute stroll and is home to 18 holes set in truly spectacular surroundings. The clubs on-site hotel welcomes non-residents to use their facilities which include an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, solarium, steam room, gym and spa (fees payable locally).

Located just a short drive to the west is the popular fishing town of Looe, renowned for its local produce served within a number of harbourside restaurants. Other attractions include picturesque beaches, sailing and fishing trips, with Looe home to the Shark Angling Club of Great Britain. For visitors wishing to give their car a holiday too then follow the wight mile coastal path linking Portwrinkle and Looe, providing a great opportunity to soak up the sea air and rewarding views on route.

Exploring further inland and Portwrinkle is within easy driving distance of a number of Cornish attractions. Spend the day at the world famous Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan, both in St Austell, or visit any number of historic houses owned by the National Trust including Antony House where filming took place for the recent Disney movie Alice in Wonderland. No visit to Cornwall would be complete without visiting some of its iconic beaches which range from isolated coves to expanses of golden sands, all just waiting to be discovered.

Bayview

The house had everything a mixed family needed for a great holiday. Plenty of space for everyone, the younger members enjoyed the hot tub. The furnishings and beds were very comfortable.

Great place to stay. Excellent house, facilities and location. The whole family enjoyed it, just a shame we couldn't have stayed longer.

Bayview

Had a wonderful stay a Bayview! My children really enjoyed the pantomime in Plymouth! Had some lovely walks and evening out, we recommend the Wilcove Inn and the Finnygook Inn. For days out we visited Looe, Fawey and Polperro. All were great in their own different ways and well worth a visit. We love the house and the fantastic views and we will definitely return!

Bayview Portwrinkle Perfection

What an amazing house. From the living room the views of the coastline and sea are spectacular (including the distant Eddystone Lighthouse in the distance.) Two beaches are within stumbling distance of the house and one is year round dog friendly too. Inside the house it is top end finishing all round with four spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. There are three bathrooms including one with whirlpool bath and an enclosed garden with steps up to the raised sun deck and hop tub. It's a beautiful place and we loved it.

Outstanding beachfront location !

Superb house with excellent facilities. The jacuzzi bath was amazing. The dog friendly beach is just a short walk. The pubs in this area all seem to allow dogs. We had a wonderful stay :-)

Holiday Gem

A hidden gem of a location. On arrival the sun was shining and the hot tub was calling us on the decking. The views from the cottage terrace and sitting area were panoramic. Not a thing had been overlooked whether you were staying with friends or had young children, all were catered for - the children's rooms were beatifully furnished and they even had a cosy little den on the ground floor with wide screen TV and board games to pass the time if they were not worn out from all the fun on the beach. Not a day went by that we did not use the hot tub and the kitchen and garden area catered well for both indoor and outdoor dining. The beach is only a stone's throw from the cottage and a long hilly walk up to the Finnygook Inn - where the best roast dinner can be had ( along with a varied menu ). All in all a brilliant holiday!
