You’ll find this sandy gem tucked between Porthcurno and Porthgwarra, just three miles from Land’s End. With a position surrounded by cliffs, this peaceful sandy beach has a sheltered feel to it that makes it perfect for families.
Now the good news is that Porthchapel doesn’t attract the crowds that its neighbours do, but that’s because it’s not as easy to reach. You’ll need to follow the cliff path down through the tree-dotted valley and then make a little climb down to the rocks on the beach (in short, you might want to wear your trainers for the journey down and pop your flip flops on at the bottom).
There’s a seasonal dog ban between Easter and October, and if you sit on the sand and look out to sea it’s not uncommon to spot a seal enjoying the surf just offshore! Please bear in mind that lifeguards don’t operate at Porthchapel Beach, and the closest shop is the one in the Minnack Theatre a short wander along the coast path.
