Description

Higher Shute is a traditional detached house full of character located in an elevated position above Polperro village and harbour.

Internally, the spacious home has many traditional country features including open fireplaces and wooden beams, yet sits in the perfect position for beautiful sea views. Externally, the spacious terrace comes with ample seating and offers stunning panoramic views of Polperro village, harbour and out to sea.

The village of Polperro squeezes down the valley to a small harbour. The village is famous for its seafood, where visitors can sit on the harbour and enjoy a fresh crab sandwich from one of the nearby cafes. There are great walks from the village to the nearby town of Looe via the five mile coastal footpath passing Talland Bay.

Although only small, Polperro has a number of authentic pubs and award winning restaurants. The village remains home to a thriving artistic community with a number of small galleries selling local work. The small sandy beach is protected from the winds and there is a famous natural swimming pool among the rocks that is revealed at low tide.

Whether you are in search of a romantic getaway in one of the prettiest villages in Cornwall or an action packed family day out at the Eden Project, Cornwall has it all and everything in between.

Unbeatable view from a fabulous house

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at Higher Shute. The house is beautifully decorated with everything done to a very high standard: the furniture and artworks are thoughtfully chosen, the beds are really comfortable with excellent quality linen and the kitchen well equipped (nothing so annoying as a gorgeous house turning out to have blunt knives or saucepans too small to cook for the whole group!). Little extra touches like the canvas bag for shopping expeditions to the village or ordnance survey maps of the area to plan days out made the elegant house feel very homelike. I don't think I've ever had a lovelier view on holiday than the one from the terrace here and Polperro itself was a really charming place to stay.

Fantastic stay at Higher Shute in Polperro

We had a fantastic stay at Higher Shute in Polperro, the house was very nice indeed with stunning views over the harbour. We had everything we needed at the house from Wi-fi to fresh towels.

Wonderful house in a charming location

We absolutely loved Higher Shute! Such a beautiful house with the most stunning views of the village and out to sea. Very tastefully decorated, appointed to a very high standard, homely and comfortable. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped - it had everything you could have wanted or needed(including sharp knives and large saucepans!). The quality of the beds, bed-linen and towels was excellent. We enjoyed having the open fire in the sitting room - very welcome after long, windswept walks on the coast! Polperro itself is very picturesque; it was lovely to be able to watch the goings on in the harbour from the comfort of Higher Shute. I would have no hesitation in staying in Polperro and, in particular, this house again - we had a great holiday there.

Holiday cottage in polperro

We stayed at the higher Shute cottage for one week with a large family of 9 people. The Holiday cottage in polperro was immaculate and very spacious. Polperro is a lovely typical Cornish fishing village. All rooms in the house have amazing views of the harbour and is close to town. I would recommend this property and location to anyone.

A Fabulous House

We knew that this was going to be lovely from the pictures on the website, but this house exceeded expectations, being more spacious and more beautifully furnished than we had imagined. The views from the house are spectacular, and it all makes for a very relaxed and enjoyable holiday. I would just mention that the hill from the town to the house, although not long, is extremely steep, and is liable to leave you a bit breathless if you are as unfit as me. Of the local eateries the Blue Peter is a very friendly and popular spot, and if you fancy splashing out a bit, Couch's Great House is really special. If you want to go Mackerel fishing, try Dave and his boat the Emma Louise in Looe- a really nice guy who also runs the fish market and is a Lifeboatman to boot! Booking was a piece of cake, and the ladies in your office were very helpful. Thank you all for a lovely holiday.

Higher Shute - Polperro

In our group we went from 82 - 4, so the house had to be extra special to cater for all our needs/disabilities. Higher Shute did just that! The house had lots of character, beautifully decorated and furnished and lots and lots of space. We spent most of our time in the outside space, enjoying the activity down below and at night when everyone settled down - we sat with a drink and listened to the weekend music and the harbour going to sleep. Just brilliant! The best part and memory that we will take from this special holiday is that AMAZING view. No hesitation in coming to stay again. We all loved it!

Magnificent Views

The property is of a very high standard and we were pleased that so many of the small items you use in the kitchen were at hand. This saved us alot of packing. The views from the outside terrace are amazing and the ability to eat outside when under cover is a real delight. My only criticism is that the car park is near impossible to get into with a large car or 4x4. So I had to park at the top of Talland Hill which is a very vertical walk. Good exercise though ! But this was only a small blot on what is a first class property with charm that is relaxing to stay in.
