Cornwall holidays are all about taking time out and enjoying the county’s beauty, and there are few places more picturesque than the unassuming Penrose Water Gardens. Just a 15 minute drive from Perranporth, Penrose Water Gardens are a dazzling way to see some of the stunning Cornish countryside. Stroll the water gardens and their 60 ponds and enjoy the peace and quiet of a woodland valley right in the heart of Cornwall.
There are all kinds of plants and flowers throughout the gardens but one of the highlights of a visit is the chance to see the lilies when they flower in their various colours. What is it about a secret garden that’s so much more fascinating that one everybody knows about? Well whatever it is the gardens have remained hidden for 20 years, and have only recently opened to the public – and you can buy water and garden plants as well as local Cornish crafts to take home.
While you’re there, a visit to the Lily Tearooms is a lovely opportunity to enjoy a drink on the veranda overlooking the ponds. Admission is free and guided tours are available to make sure you don’t miss anything.
