The Lafrowda Festival takes place in Penzance for two weeks every year and it celebrates art in the community. The programme includes all kinds of events and activities for residents and visitors, and most of the action centres on the Penwith area of the town.
The festival aims to promote art to the public with a flurry of creative events and colourful entertainment, so if you’re on the lookout for family events in Penzance during this period you’ll find plenty to see and do. The programme includes street entertainment, stalls, parades and much more in the name of this educational charity. There’s always an emphasis on the area’s history as well as showcasing talent and Lafrowda Day is always a real highlight of the fortnight.
This usually falls on the third Saturday in July and you’ll see the streets close to traffic as they’re overhauled with brightly coloured decorations. Street performers show off their skills, children try to touch the sky on bouncy castles and there’s always an impressive procession through the streets.
