Foodies are always in their element in Padstow thanks to the influence of celebrity chef and restaurateur Rick Stein, and Rick Stein’s St Petroc’s Bistro serves classic bistro meals with a contemporary flair. The bistro may have a celebrity owner but it exudes rustic charm throughout and makes a cosy place to tuck in to some real ‘elbows on the table’ fodder.
When he’s not thinking up new dishes for the menu Rick Stein spends much of his time travelling, and you’ll taste the flavours of the Mediterranean throughout the menu thanks to his love for its food. The well-aged Red Ruby steaks are dry-aged for thirty days for a powerful flavour and local produce is used wherever possible.
St Petroc’s is a lively bistro that feels a bit like walking into a large country dining area, and with winding staircases and open fireplaces the building makes the perfect setting to tuck into something hearty. The menu includes old favourites such as Duck Confit and Petit Sale yet also offers classics such as moules mariniere and steak frites. Dogs are welcome in the snug bar and the outside courtyard area of the bistro, although they’re not allowed inside the dining area.
St Petroc’s Bistro is one of Padstow’s best-loved eateries so we’d recommend booking a table in advance to avoid disappointment.
