Boardmasters is one of Cornwall’s most iconic annual events, and it returns every August in a noisy celebration of surfing, live music and the beachside lifestyle. The festival takes place across two of the country’s most inspiring venues – Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach, and the bill is always crammed with the biggest names in music.
If you like to spend your summers in flip flops, your free time on the waves and leave your troubles at the entrance of a festival then this is the one for you – Boardmasters is about enjoying sport, live acts and a good time.
If you’ve never been to the festival before check which location you fancy before buying your tickets as they focus on different aspects of the event. Watergate Bay becomes one of the world’s most beautiful music arenas (live music sounds even better with the waves crashing in the background), and it hosts the restaurants, bars and stages just five minutes from the sand.
Fistral Beach is where you’ll find the sportier side of things, so if you want to try your hand at surfing (or show off your skills), skate, ride your BMX and admire art then this is the site for you.
You never quite know what you’ll see at Boardmasters, but aside from the sport and music that are always certain you’ll also be in for rides, shops, snacks and even a phone charging station so you won’t run out of battery during the fun.
