Fistral Beach

Fistral Beach

Things To Do

We all have our favourite Cornwall beach for walking the dog, that little spot we dream of on those winter days in the office...but Fistral Beach near Newquay is iconic. We’re talking postcard perfect, poetry inspiring sand, waves and dunes. Oh, and dogs are welcome everywhere throughout the whole year.  Whether you head off with your dog and his favourite ball for a long walk along the shore or take the whole family to enjoy a day on Fistral Beach, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained.

As an international surf centre Fistral has long held the crown in wave-based fun this side of the pond, and it’s nigh on impossible to turn up and be disappointed by the surf. Add to that the miles of sand and dunes just waiting to be wandered with your pet - and some great amenities that mean the kids will be happy for as long as you want to stay - and we’ve got ourselves a winner.

Fistral Beach is covered by a lifeguard service between May and September, and as it’s just a five minute drive from the centre of Newquay. If you’d rather walk to the beach it’ll take you around twenty minutes. Don’t be put off by Newquay’s popularity if you like your own space on the beach, there’s plenty of room to enjoy it, even on the hottest summer day.

The capital of any surfer’s world has got to be Fistral Beach. The birthplace of the sport in the UK, Fistral is still the scene of some of the world’s biggest surfing events and contests. In short, Fistral Beach is THE place for a beach holiday in Newquay.
