Buccaneer Bay is an indoor adventure through the myths, tales and history of Cornwall. Prepare to swear the pirate oath before being guided back into the past to discover the secrets of days gone by. Creep through Smuggler’s Cove and experience the sights and sounds of the days when smuggling reigned throughout Cornwall before popping into the village tavern for a singsong with the locals.
You’ll be in safe hands with Calico Jack or one of his infamous crew and your tour will last around 35 minutes. If you’re feeling really brave you can make your way through the Sunken Village of the Damned – but there’s an alternative path to the next section for those of you who prefer to avoid its murky depths.
The indoor attraction is perfect for days when it’s not quite beach weather, and its depictions of traditional Cornish myths and characters never fail to impress visitors of all ages. The realistic figures bring the magic of Cornwall to life, creating a fun and nostalgic museum.
Buccaneer Bay is one of Newquay's leading family attractions and it featured on The Great British Holiday Show in 2009, which saw Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne reviving seaside attractions. It brings the past and the legends of Cornwall to life with real characters, lifelike figures and sound and lighting effects.
Find yourself face to face with Cornish characters such as Merlin, King Arthur and sneaky smugglers. Unfortunately Buccaneer Bay is unsuitable for wheelchair users as there are several sets of steps within this attraction.
