Sometimes the best beaches in Cornwall are the ones you haven’t heard of, as they’re the ones that avoid the bigger crowds and hold on to that unspoilt charm that’s hard to come by. Pentewan is a long sandy beach right on the South West Coast Path, but it’s well worth spending a day on its sands rather than just passing it as you walk.
This is a particularly good spot for swimming or enjoying water sports (but please note that jet skis are banned) and you’ll be in good company if you love surfing, windsurfing, sea canoeing, water skiing and pretty much any other sport that involves getting wet in the waves.
There’s a seasonal dog ban, so if you fancy letting your pet enjoy this one then time a visit for the months between November and April. You’ll find a Pay and Display car park just behind the beach, so it’s a convenient one to spend time at and a great starting point for a stroll.
