Par Sands is a large sandy beach with plenty of space, dunes and a south-facing position – all of which saw it win a Seaside Award in 2006.
The waters are shallow for some distance, making Par Sands a good spot for paddling, especially for children. There are toilets, a shop and cafe, and those on dog-friendly beach holidays in Fowey will be pleased to learn that dogs are welcome all year.
Any parents who have ventured to the beach with their whole clan will appreciate the joy of seeing a car park that’s within an easy walk from the sand, and Par Sands Beach is one of those. Fluffy sand may be what we all dream of when planning a day lying in the sun, but the but the slightly firm sand you’ll find at this beach makes it an easier one for walkers, so bear it in mind if you fancy a stroll beside the sea during your Cornwall holiday.
You’ll find those three essentials - a pub, a cafe and a shop - close to the beach, but the picnic benches mean walkers can sit and take in the scenery over lunch. Well, how long has it been since you gathered the family around a bench and handed out everyone’s favourite snacks? Par Sands Beach is less than three miles from the infamous Eden Project, so if you fancy a wander on your way home it’s well worth parking up and enjoying some more of Cornwall.
