We love an event that’s just a little bit quirky, and the Fal River Festival’s one of those annual festivals in Cornwall that celebrates…well anything really. Set to run from the 30th May to 5th June, the festival programme’s packed with more than 150 events for the whole family.
Dozens of settings along the river Fal will host live music and drama, as well as gig racing, swimming, walks and lots more…you name it – it’ll be going on throughout the week. If you find yourself in Falmouth during the event, it’s a fantastic way to get to know the resort a little better, as the activities give visitors (and locals of course) the chance to engage with life on the river Fal, the area’s history, and that Cornish culture that’s set it apart from the rest of the world for generations.
The profits from the week are donated to charity, so it really is all about raising money for good causes and having a brilliant time, and every year sees people support the event in their thousands. If you’ve been looking forward to an opportunity to sample the local ales and ciders then this is the perfect excuse, as the chance to sup on the area’s wares is one of the highlights of the festival.
30th May to the 5th June 2016.
