The Falmouth Spring Festival takes place in March and celebrates everything we love about this energetic time of year in an explosion of noise, entertainment and colour. The town plays host to all kinds of free events, and one of the most popular is Paint the Town Yellow Day. Yes you guessed it Falmouth transforms into a place of unabashed yellow at every turn, and it’s impossible not to get swept up in the atmosphere.
Other events connected to the festival include the Folk and Cider Fayre, Party in the Park, special rockpooling sessions on the surrounding beaches, Guerrilla Gardening and Zumba Zestifal. There’s something to suit every family, and as the local school children donate yellow daffodils to the town’s businesses everywhere has a bright, friendly appearance throughout the festival.
Run Falmouth, the annual half marathon also takes place as part of the festival, so visitors to Falmouth can go along and cheer the runners on while they’re there. It’s all for a great cause (Cornwall Hospice Care) so all donations are welcome. The Folk and Cider Fayre runs for two happy days throughout the festival. The action centres around Events Square and celebrates local produce.
