The Falmouth Oyster Festival is a Falmouth event certain to warm autumn for visitors to the town. The festival is perfectly timed to welcome the start of the oyster harvest each October and celebrates the range of seafood Cornwall provides. The streets of the town will fill with the smell of fresh oysters as stalls and cookery bars appear throughout the event, and highlights also include cookery demonstrations from some of the country’s leading chefs.
The annual event marks the beginning of another oyster dredging season, and Falmouth is one of the last locations to dredge in the traditional way using just a sail and a punt. The festival is free, and there will also be live music throughout Falmouth too, so it’s easy to see why the event attracts thousands every year.
