Description

8 Southern Halt is a lovely three bedroom lodge set amongst the wonderful Cornish countryside. Located in the village of Dobwalls and set back from the hussle and bustle of everyday life, this is the perfect place to forget it all.

Inside, 8 Southern Halt is furnished to the highest possible standard with solid wood furniture and quality fixtures and fittings. The open plan living, kitchen and dining area has huge French doors leading out to the terrace and is extremely bright throughout the day. This is an ideal space whether you’re looking to cook and enjoy a family meal, or put your feet up with a good book and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Outside, the lodge has a spacious decked terrace which is a great spot for eating outside in the fresh air. You even have your own private hot tub. Why not take a dip, take in the stunning natural surroundings and enjoy a true feeling of rest and relaxation.

Southern Halt may be a peaceful and secluded resort, but it is located three miles west of Liskeard and just twelve miles away from the historic fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, meaning there are plenty of places to visit should you wish to get out and explore. For those looking to escape cooking on holiday, why not take a short trip to Southern Halt’s sister site, Stonerush Lakes? Here you’ll find the Old Mill Bar and Restaurant where you can enjoy some of the local area’s finest produce while overlooking the scenic lake.

Amazing Lodge

We recently stayed at No. 8 Southern Halt, what a fantastic place. The lodge was spotless and had everything we could have needed on our stay. We arrived early and the cleaner was extremely helpful and let us into our lodge earlier than expected. George (the hot tub guy) is one of the nicest people you could possibly meet, he gave us advice on local facilities and places to visit. The grounds at Southern Halt are spotless and the lawns are well looked after, we have a wide age range of children with a 20 year old, a 15 year old and 9 year old twins but we managed to find something for everyone and they loved sitting in the hot tub even when the weather wasn't at its best. One of the highlights was watching the deer roaming around in the fields at the back, I have never seen deer in the wild before, what an amazing sight. I have already recommended Southern Halt to a friend who saw my pictures on facebook and I will certainly look of book again. Overall an excellent location with excellent accommodation and very friendly staff, the welcome pack with wine, milk and various other items was a very nice surprise. Thank you all for a wonderful holiday and keep up the good work.

Beautiful property in a stunning location. A wonderful experience overall.

When we pulled up to the property we really didn't know what to expect. The pictures on the website seemed too good to be true but we were NOT disappointed when we got our hands on the keys and walked through the door. The property was simply stunning, flawless in fact. There wasn't a speck of dust to be seen and the presentation of every single aspect of the property was impeccable. We had everything we needed for our holiday and all utensils were provided as advertised. We very much appreciated being supplied with bath robes to enjoy the wonderful hot tub which was certainly one of the highlights of the holiday. Again, like everything else, the hot tub was a fantastic feature and it was lovely being able to unwind after a long day of exploring Cornwall and all its delights. The hot tub was maintained on a daily basis and we never had any complaints. The views from the hot tub were absolutely spectacular as well and just from the property in general. We were a little apprehensive about the location initially as we usually tend to stay in the more southern parts of Cornwall, however, this property was perfectly located. Despite being away from the hustle and bustle we were very close to Liskeard (around 10-15 minutes in the car). St Austell was around 35 minutes away and it took around an hour and a half to reach Falmouth. We did visit many other places further south but never minded having to drive a bit further to get back to Dobwalls as the property was just so great. We had one query regarding the washer/dryer and we received excellent service when we phoned the property manager. All in all we had a superb time and would recommend this property to anyone! Many thanks for a great holiday.

Christmas at Southern Halt

Arrived at 8 Southern Halt just after 4pm a few days before Christmas. The lodge was beautiful, clean, well equipped and well presented. Definitely home from home ! A high level of comfort all round. Welcome gifts on arrival were lovely, and a Christmas tree too ! Location makes a good base to visit surrounding areas. Spar shop just down the road, major supermarket just 10 mins away in Liskeard. Golf course 10 mins away and good value. Called into Stone Rush Lakes, (sister site) and visited the Old Mill Restaurant. Hot Tub was great, and George maintained it well during our stay, even called in on Boxing Day. Excellent lodge, would book again and look forward to more arriving on site. Many thanks, The Smarts, Christmas 2015

Stunning

We recently stayed at Southern Halt near Liskeard. What a stunning lodge with stunning view. If your looking for a relaxing time away, this is it. The lodge was equipped with everything you could possibly need (even a dishwasher) I would definitely be back but next maybe later in the year so we can enjoy the use of the hot tub more.

Fantastic

Spent 5 days at 8 Southern Halt and absolutely loved it. Set in the middle of no where overlooking rolling hills, very idyllic when soaking in the hot tub early evenings. Phone signal was fine but the property has no internet which would have been useful for researching days outs. Kitchen is well stocked with lots of pots, pans and dishes (although none of the pans are non stick which proved very difficult to cook with). The whole place is beautifully decorated, modern and fresh and plenty of space for all. Looking forward to making a return visit in the future for another relaxing week.
