Ok, so Carbis Bay is only one stop from the gorgeous resort of St Ives by train, but the walk’s so scenic that it’s well worth making the journey on foot at least once during a stay in the area. It should take between twenty minutes and half an hour and most of the route follows the sea so you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views across the bay as you go.
Start the walk just opposite the Carbis Bay Hotel and pick the path up to the railway bridge. Make your way across the bridge and you’ll be greeted with views right across the bay all the way to Trevose Head as you head up a gentle hill. If you opt for the lower pathway you’ll be treated to the clearest views.
Keep following the road and you’ll soon turn a corner that opens out onto breathtaking views of St Ives Bay. Head down to Porthminster Beach as you go as it’s worth stopping off in the ever-popular Porthminster Café for a bite to eat before heading into the town itself. You’ll pass the iconic lifeboat station and you’ll soon end up on the harbourside.
