Every inch the imposing country house, Lanhydrock stands at the centre of a beautiful estate that’s changed little over the centuries – and what better way to explore it than on two wheels?
The off-road cycle trails make the perfect way to get out in the fresh air and spend a day cycling the picturesque estate, and don’t worry if it’s been awhile since you got out on your bike as the trails range from those suitable for all ages to the more…shall we say, challenging ones.
Whichever trail you opt for, you’ll wind your way through the peaceful woodland and past the swirling waters of the river, so this is a lovely way to feel far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and wind back the clock for a few hours. The Lodge trail’s one of the most popular as it’s been specially designed for novices and families, and it should take around half an hour at just over a mile and a half.
There’s a cycle hire shop on site, and you’ll be able to choose from hiring for half the day or the full one. If you’re planning to cycle the routes during the school holidays we’d recommend booking ahead as hiring’s very popular.
