Burrow Mump is one of those gorgeous little spots you’ll stumble across one day and then just spend hours enjoying. A pretty little hill complete with the remains of an old church on the top (which was actually built on the remains of a Medieval church), Burrow Mump’s a favourite with amateur photographers keen to take the perfect shot during their time in Somerset, and if you stroll to the top you’ll be rewarded with picturesque views.
Don’t worry if you don’t fancy a hike, the hill’s so gentle that you’ll find sheep grazing happily on the top, and if you take a picnic it’s just the place to settle down and tuck in. There’s a National Trust car park nearby, and if you fancy a pub lunch after taking in the views head for the King Alfred Inn just a short drive from the Mump. If you’re staying at Windmill Retreat, Burrow Mump’s one of the area’s prettiest spots.
