Tintagel CastleTintagel Castle, you’d be hard pushed to find a more fascinating ruin than this Tintagel attraction! Even without the legends that this was the scene of King Arthur’s birth, this cliff top ruin is one of the most dramatic in Cornwall, and reaching it via steep climbs and bridges over crashing waves is an adventure that the whole family will love. Tintagel’s air of mystery keeps the tales of King Arthur in mind during any visit, and you can even go down to the shore and visit Merlin’s Cave. The history of Tintagel Castle can be traced back to Roman times, and no stay in Tintagel would be complete without a visit.

The Museum of WitchcraftIf Tintagel Castle leaves you feeling inspired to learn more about the secrets of Cornwall, you’ll find plenty more at the Museum of Witchcraft. The Museum of Witchcraft is a fascinating family attraction in Boscastle, but young children may find some exhibits unsettling. The museum has stood in Boscastle for 50 years, and houses the largest collection of genuine witchcraft artefacts in the world. The museum delves into the meaning of witchery and its presence throughout England over the years. Luckily, most of the artefacts survived the severe flood of 2004, but you can still see the waterline inside the entrance!

The British Cycling MuseumCalling all cyclists amongst you! Another Boscastle attraction that’s perfect for rainy days is the British Cycling Museum, in nearby Camelford. The British Cycling museum is home to a huge and varied display of cycling memorabilia, some of which dates back to 1818 – and cyclists will be in their element! The museum is found inside a former Victorian railway station, which adds to its charm, and the quirky exhibitions include hundreds of cycles, thousands of medals and the first cycle oil lamp.

King Arthur's Great HallIf you don’t get enough of the King Arthur legends during your visit to Tintagel Castle, King Arthur’s Great Hall is the perfect Tintagel attraction to immerse yourself in the world of legend for a little bit longer! Set in a historic granite building, this attraction boasts a Great Hall completely dedicated to King Arthur. The hall is an impressive sight, with a round table, granite thrones and 72 round tables – if Arthur existed, he would certainly feel at home here! The legend is bought to life further still with lighting and sound effects, and a special narration too. |
Bossiney BeachA lovely family attraction in Boscastle and Tintagel that often gets overlooked is Bossiney Bay! Bossiney Beach sits beneath the cliffs between Tintagel and Boscastle, but passing visitors wouldn’t see it unless they knew it was there. This means it's often very quiet, and dogs are allowed all year round. Bossiney Beach is a pretty, sandy cove with relatively easy access, but it can get cut off at high tide. There is a parking layby nearby, so it’s well worth stopping off as you drive between the two resorts. If the beach isn’t for you, why not walk along the headland through the Rocky Valley to the north of the beach? |
