Visitors to Weymouth will have a prime view of the Olympic sailing events thanks to an observation tower on the seafront next year.
The plans for the viewing tower have been approved and work is set to start work in November.
The structure will be 53 metres high and stand at the top of Festival Pier.

Weymouth Beach Kite Festival will return to the town from Saturday 30 April until Monday 1 May 2011.
The May Bank Holiday weekend is brightened with the sight of thousands of brightly coloured kites filling the skies above the sandy beach, and the event attracts visitors in their thousands.
Some of the world’s best kite flyers show their skills off on Weymouth Esplanade – with flyers hailing from all over Europe, as well as the US.

Not only are they Blue Chip's first holiday apartments in Dorset, but they are also in a prime position for taking in all the action of the 2012 Olympic sailing venue. It must be well over fifteen years since I lived in the dramatic, beautiful and historic county of Dorset, just twenty miles or so from Weymouth. Despite spending the bulk of my childhood there and occasional trips to Weymouth and Chesil Beach, I'd never been to the Island of Portland, so when the opportunity arose to stay there, I leapt at it.
