Over half of us are likely to take fewer overseas holidays in 2010 replacing Moorings Reach, Brixhamthese with UK breaks instead. The survey of 949 people undertaken by Blue Chip Holidays showed that 56 per cent of us would ditch the overseas holiday in 2010, while over two-thirds (69 per cent) will choose to holiday in the UK instead. Respondents said their decision was influenced by the combination of positive UK weather predictions for the next decade, continuing poor exchange rates, concerns over the environment and the impact of increasing Air Passenger Duty. These findings are supported by strong domestic self-catering bookings that are already on the rise for 2010.

Blue Chip Holidays Holiday Advisor Kerry Curtis reports here on theKerry Curtis recent trip she took to the charming South Cornwall villages of Kingsand and Cawsand.

I was curious to see what Kingsand and Cawsand had to offer when we left Brixham early one Monday morning. We headed to Plymouth in the car, I must admit I had no idea what to expect from the small villages in South Cornwall frequently referred to as ‘The Forgotten Corner of Cornwall'. As a frequent visitor to Plymouth, I am ashamed to say I have never taken the passenger ferry across to Cawsand during the summer months or even the all year round Torpoint ferry across to Cornwall! The Torpoint ferry was our mode of transport today; we drove onto the large modern ferry and took our place for the ten minute crossing from Plymouth to Torpoint. I was surprised at how cheap this was, only £1.00 for a single journey!

Lying at the heart of tThe Bakehouse, Tuckenhayhe picturesque village of Tuckenhay, South Devon, The Old Bakehouse, valued at over £3 million, provides the perfect self-catering venue for a large seasonal family gathering. Sat on the River Dart, at high tide you can feed the local swans from the ground floor windows or sit on the landing stage and relax in the natural beauty of the creek. At low tide you can listen to the babbling sounds of the river as it washes over the rocks, or even go for a paddle. And, if the Dart's water proves to be a touch on the chilly side, which it undoubtedly will at this time of year, you can choose to dip your feet into the luxurious outdoor hot tub instead.
