Plymouth is braced for the America's Cup

Posted by kelly in sailingEventsDevon

The America’s Cup will be speeding into Plymouth from 10-18 September, and the city is expecting thousands to come and watch the action.

The world’s fastest boats and finest sailors will race across Plymouth Sound as international sport’s oldest trophy comes to Devon.

The sport dates back 160 years, and now sees AC45 catamarans race for the trophy breathtakingly close to land. Spectators will have a great view as the race circuit ventures into Plymouth’s harbour.

There will be a big screen on Plymouth Hoe, as well as a live commentary so visitors won’t miss a second of the adrenalin-packed events on the water.

There will also be live music and entertainment in Plymouth throughout the event, with free access to most areas.
