Favorite places in the South west :

Having moved to Torbay aged 11 from Cheshire I have enjoyed growing up in this area of the country and have been able to take advantage of the many beautiful locations on my doorstep. I have several favorite beaches in the area, these include Blackpool sands in Dartmouth, Slapton sands in Torcross and Tolcarne Beach in Newquay. Blackpool sands has a Mediterranean feel, with turquoise blue waters and facilities for all the family in the summer months. A ten minute drive from Blackpool sands will take you to Slapton sands an impressive 3 mile stretch of dramatic coastline, I love the history here, Slapton sands was used as a training ground for the D-Day landings and an old tank resides in the car park for you to examine. Into Cornwall my favorite beach would have to be Tolcarne in Newquay, a glorious sandy beach just a short walk from town with a great bustling atmosphere in the summer months.

For a lazy afternoon , I like to head over to Totnes. A unique market town in South Devon , I enjoy wandering through the unusual shops and having a bite to eat in the fabulous Royal Seven Stars. I love eating out , Maha Bharet in Torquay is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever tried, it is reasonably priced with great service and a relaxed atmosphere. As a self confessed film addict , a great evening for me would be a visit to the Barbican Leisure park in Plymouth to watch a new release at the Vue cinema followed by a few drinks at the Old Orleans bar or Oceania nightclub.

A little bit about me :

I love travel , I watch films about it , read books about and do it as often as I can. Learning about other countries, their people and history is of interest to me. I am lucky to have been too many places across the world and have been employed in the tourism industry for the whole of my career. Other than anything travel related I enjoy reading , especially autobiographies.
